    HK P30 Magazine Issues

I’ve had a several .40 mags stress crack or break at the top of the mag at the back where the “U” shaped cutout is. I don’t dump my mags on the ground when reloading. These mags are only a few years old.

Just ordered 3 new mags at $59.50 a piece.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

No experience with the 40 mags. I have some P30 9mm mags that are at least 10 years old and are still running great.

I would get in touch with HK and let them know what you are seeing.

Are you using a loader or just by thumb? Admittedly, I don’t shoot a lot but use an Uplula and haven’t had any problems with my 9mm magazines. I think this is better than the HK provided one.

PS - major props to you if strictly by hand. Tough guy - twice was enough for me! 😀

By hand. Do need to be careful not to cut my thumb on the sharp feed lips.
HK did replace 2 mags just to be nice but did add mags are only warranted for a year.

Never had a problem with an HK mag.

    Details:
I have about 10 magazines (for the P30 and SFP9).
I use only #1 to #4 (for sports shooting), mostly #1 and #2.
Bought #1 and #2 in 2009 (they came with the gun).
Fired 22k shots. Only replaced the mag springs once.
Use the mags in two P30 pistols and an SFP9.

I've never had or observed issues with any of my .40 P30/VP40 magazines. HK magazines have a deservedly high reputation for quality. Reported issues are pretty rare-this is literally the first time I've heard of any with the .40 magazines.

It was decent of HK Customer Support to give you replacements; in my experience HK CS has been outstanding for the past 10 years or so.

I agree that the feed lips are indeed sharp; my Uplula is an essential item for me...

    Have you contacted HK?

Although HK might respond with, "Because you suck. And we hate you'', perhaps they could offer an explanation and some relief?

ETA: Nevermind. Saw in a later post that you contacted HK and that they made it right. Serves me right for posting without sufficient coffee intake this early in the day.

You don't happen to use an ultrasonic cleaner with citric acid, do you? Or some other novel cleaning regime?

It just doesn't make any sense.

Once I had HK mags for P2000 in 40 and 357 Sig. They were the same. One stood out as different, and I figured out that a 9mm mag got mislabeled.
