Has anyone tried a down vent AR BCG to control suppressed gas to face?

I didn’t see anything in a keyword search.

KAK and possibly others offer AR BCGs that vent gas downward to reduce gas to face when running suppressed. Has anyone tried one of these? I have a few 10.5” uppers that might benefit from this, although a Black River Tactical EZTUNE gas tube for each would be cheaper, would probably be easier and may accomplish the same thing by reducing gas.

Apparently a lot of people on Reddit and FB like these but I can't wrap my head around it. Why would you choose to shoot it down into the magwell vs out of the ejection port with an LMT e-carrier if you're avoiding the more direct solution of a BRT tube for some reason? Also, KAK has never been in the respected AR realm so I'm not sure why they would be now, though at least their stated specs look good.

That's where myself and a lot of my friends who are/were into AR's for a living were at on them. The design has provided a good bit of humor and head shaking.

Also, the bolded part. When Reddit and FB get wound up about something, I treat it like the warning siren going off at the local nuke plant . . . a sign to head in the opposite direction.

I think @jandbj has one of these.

Got one, haven’t gotten to use it much yet. I wouldn’t recommend Reddit for much but when it comes to ARs there’s far more empirical testing and data sharing going on over there (r/ar15) than I’ve seen anywhere else, including at the venerable P-F.

I think I’ll hold off and watch for first hand reports - it’s an interesting concept.

Hop’s video convinced me to give it a try.

No complaints and it actually does reduce the gas out the ejection port.

However, I’ve since gotten a lower back pressure can with a Lazarus 6 and that thing is the bees knees.

Shown on a 12.5” with mid length gas.
