    Adjusting POI by changing velocity?

The 442 prints my usual 158gr load of 3.7-3.8gr 231 high along with Fed GMM. I'm about to load up some more 158s as well as some 148gr DEWC.

If I want to lower the POI do I need to go faster or slower?

    Bad ideas, brilliant execution

I may be slow, but I get there.

Yes? I’ve always thought that longer barrel time might cause the bullet to impact higher, but then I read an article that debunked that idea as the dwell time difference is tiny. This is not much help either:

You need to go lighter. At snubby distances, velocity isn't going to make much of a difference. Federal GMM and my 158-grain +P handloads pretty much print on top of each other.

My 642-2 needs 125-135-grain ammo to hit to POA. My practice ammo for that gun is a 125-grain plated FN running at about the same velocity as 130-grain factory ball. I've used Missouri Bullets coated lead bullets and been happy with them, I just got a deal on the plated FNs. I'll go back to the Missouri Bullets slugs when I need more.

Thanks, I'm having to go with what I have on hand for this weekend's session but my next order will include some 125 grainers.

One of my 442's shot high with 158 gr +p ammo. Changing to Win +p 130 gr jhp made it shoot dead on. This ammo is available on line. If you search you can find cheap 130 gr fmj rn bullets to load for practice practice. 4.0 231 should make a good practice load.
