There is a lot of thread drift and I decided to make my own discussing my own feelings on the original topic here:
    https://pistol-forum.com/showthread....5-Always-armed

On the topic of "friendly fire" I always think of this incident which occurred locally early in my career:
    https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/artic...es-2965432.php
    https://www.odmp.org/officer/15494-d...rto-wilkins-jr

Realize when the cavalry arrives you don't want to be waving a gun around or even have it in your hand. Put yourself in their shoes and plan how you should react accordingly. The time to think about this is now and not during the incident.

When I think of the impact a J-frame can make I think of this incident:
    https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-...916-story.html
    https://www.chicagotribune.com/2000/...union-station/

In that incident a DEA agent's J-frame combined with quick thinking and skill saved the day.

Having a gun on you at all times always beats having a "better" gun, or more capable gun, that is not on your person.

I can't remember where I heard this, but I saved it a long time ago because I found it salient and am posting it now:

If it's comfortable, you will carry it all day every day.
If it is uncomfortable, at some point during the day you will stop carrying it, or worse, you will walk out the door and leave it at home.
The only place a handgun does you any good is if it is on your person.

That saying about a handgun should be comforting and not comfortable is Horse Pucky .
If it isn't comfortable it wont be on your person. That is simply human nature.

Carry whatever you can carry comfortably and still shoot well.
I'll stick to carrying a J-frame on me all the time and scale up accordingly or do my best to avoid the situation entirely.

I really hate seeing shit like this. Nothing is somehow different now than it was yesterday or last week or last year or last decade.

As if mass shootings or multiple attackers or terrorist attacks are somehow a new thing..People have been trying to convince people they need more gun for a long time

Also, feudist's post needs to be a sticky somewhere.

That reminds me, my grandpa said everyone wanted to be the Thompson man until they got to be one. He said something about a vest that carried magazines and it all added up to a lot of weight

I used to upgun when I would visit my friend in the ‘hood, but that wasn’t a terror thing.
P365 with 12 rounds here too. And a blade. Sometimes a reload
