I opened one box and found approximately 25% of the rounds with lead on the side of the bullet beneath the exposed tip. Upon examination I was able to scratch this lead off with my fingernail and found that the jacket was open where the lead leaked out.

This is from the "White Box" ammunition.

I also found 2 rounds that had deep grooves or cuts in the jacked below the tip but that did not exhibit any leakage.

While this does look odd to me, I don't know if that is really abnormal for these bullets? My Ranger Non-Bonded 64gr SPs do not exhibit this issue however.

My plan is separate the rounds that exhibit leakage and see if there is any difference in accuracy compared to the rounds that don't.

What would be people assumptions on how this abnormality would affect the terminal performance of the bullets?
    Definitely a reason for reject.

Did you ever get around to testing? I bought a 1000 rounds of these because AE ammo claimed this ammo was only labeled training only because of a canceled con tract. The first thing I noticed was the leaking lead and uneven tips. Thanks!

I am literally able to stack this stuff at 100 yards with my NX8 (one big lead splash looks like a .308 hit the steel) and create pretty little clusters with my top mounted ACRO. I'd personally stick to duty ammo unless it's for just plinking.

That said, anecdotally, I've shot some pests under thermal and this stuff is just flat out violent within its operating envelope (about 175m for an 11.5). I have literally blasted parts of armadillos over 30ft from impact (on thermal it looks pretty wild). It's just a violent bullet is best I can describe it.

Had it out the other day but ran out of time before I could shoot any 😔

I will report as soon as I can get some groups.
