Pat Rogers Memorial Revolver Roundup 2024 pics

Hey all, I got back from the PRMRR 2024 and just wanted to share some pics from this great event. Big thanks to DB & Y for making this event such a success, and I'm immensely grateful to have trained under so many incredible instructors. Beyond just identifying the growth edges where I have work to do, I'm also feeling more inspired to seek out additional training. Onto the pics!

    The classes:

This is me shooting the worst shot I've ever fired at 20 feet, dropping a point on the Bakersfield qual. I finished with a 99/100 and within the times for each stage. I'll get em next time. Picture creds to Bill Parmelee who was so gracious with his time and knowledge.

My setup for most of the weekend: my model 19-9 in a Doc Barranti Chairman holster, which Doc tweaked to ride lower than the standard Chairman holster. Paired with a reinforced Beltman and two vintage Safariland speedloader pouches, modified with Chicago screws to fit neatly on my 1.5" belt.

I brought one other gun: my 2" model 64. I had some user error issues and really struggled in Bruce Cartwright and Greg Ellifritz's class with this thing but toward the end of the weekend, I found my rhythm with it and was able to ding steel at 100 yards.

Probably my favorite block, Chuck Haggard and Erick Gelhaus' low light instruction. Shooting in low or no light is just not something I can do where I'm at so this was a real treat:

And it led to some moments where I got to admire the landscape around me:

Big thanks again to all who made this event possible!

Looks like a very nice event.

@Flamingo don't blast the light onto a surface inches from my face lol

I think my bigger takeaways from the event are things like:
    1. Fast out of the holster, smooth press, and I've got plenty of time
    2. Don't get frustrated
    3. Be more intentional about how I learn and grow

    Thanks for the post.

Yeah those AZ desert nights are what sold me over 35 years ago when I was stationed down south. Came back and never left

I missed another great weekend due to family obligations

At least I got to take them all out shooting.

    Look forward to more photos.

Those photos are extraordinary. Thanks for them and the write up.

    What's the dump pouch?
Hamilton certainly should have been working on his dry fire. - idahojess

Wilderness Tactical's pistol dump pouch. I throw 6 or 7 speedloaders in there and it works great. It's a little small if you want to have both speedloaders and loose rounds that you can rummage around and scrounge up.

Dude, you kicked butt again at the event. You were real easy to spot. Just look for the Barranti leather and X-ring hits!

For all you viewers at home, the OP did an awesome job at the Snubby Summit in South Carolina back in August, and we were all looking forward to seeing you again at Gunsite. I knew you would do really well again.

He was the top shooter in his squad in August, and won a Surefire flashlight.

Did you get a chance to try any of the new pistols with Cecil on Monday? And I hope you got a chance to snag that 342 we discussed.

Next year will be the tenth Revolver Roundup, and we already have some neat ideas for it. I'll share more as things solidify, but we started working Monday night on the 2025 event.

    Great seeing you again!

@SeriousStudent Thank you! You are much too kind I really wanted to hit the demo booth but I ended up getting carried away in a long convo with Bryan and then I had to leave for the airport after lunch! In terms of classes next year, I'm a maybe on PRMRR because I have some scheduling things up in the air but I am definitely in for Revolver Fest in South Carolina. It's gonna be hard entertaining myself until then lol

By the way, for everyone else in this thread, @SeriousStudent pulled together all the class and student/cat herding logistics for Revolver Roundup (including a literal last minute class registration change by yours truly) and it could not have gotten off the ground without him. That the event was such a success is due in large part to his efforts!

    Thanks for the kind words.

I'll look forward to seeing you in October at Revolver Fest. It's going to be awesome.
