At that price I couldn’t be any less interested.

Actually, I'd argue that one would be more correct to call the A4 an overpriced dog. The old made in germany stuff has a high price likely in part because of import fees, etc. This A4 model seems to add little true value despite some nice touches added here and there. Nothing one could argue should really cost that much more that I can tell. Mostly a case of asking price being in line with what they expect the market to bear. I wouldn't be surprised if we see these selling closer to a street price where the MR556A1's have been selling for in recent months in the mid 2k to 3K range. There's just no way they can sustain selling these at or near full MSRP with all the AR competitors out there that are just as solid and weigh less/cost less.
I'm only interested in 11" pistol and don’t have huge hopes on pricing in 2-3k range, considering what mr223 pistols are being sold for now.

I agree with you that my only interest would be for a 10 or 11 inch pistol version.
The MR223 pistols you see on GB etc are being imported is small quantities by third parties. They are guns that are purchased commercially in Europe to be flipped here.
Pricing on an HK USA made pistol should be commensurate with the standard rifle.
Agreed. The A4 specs read like common-sense updates, not the 'game changer' they're presented to be.
Regardless of whether or not a CL barrel is necessary, especially with a 'free replacement' warranty - it's amazing to me that HK doesn't respond to the very real and massive market demand from HK nerds for a CL barrel.
I really am curious as to why they don't just supply a CL barrel. The combination of the adjustable gas block and a CL barrel would sell these by the pallet to HK nerds even at the $4k price.
I would expect ~$3k ish prices eventually. The MR223 pistols are coveted by HK nerds because they were imported from EU market sources in very limited numbers, which in turn means they have the HK mothership 'proper' CL CHF barrels the US models inexplicably do not. Plus they're 100% made in Germany and as a pistol aren't subject to 922(r) so as long as it's left as a braced pistol it can be 100% German.
SIG does the same thing with the MCX. I'm guessing it's some combination of: a) cost increase vs demand and b) production capability.
With A, it would probably push the price past that magic $4K number that would be a deal killer for even more people than a $3.9K gun would.
With B, I'm not sure that HK has a stateside capability to make rifle barrels, and I would imagine that HK GmbH is sequestering all CL output for mil/pol guns worldwide.
Just my guesses. But I do wish they had CL barrels cause I'm a nerd like that.
All of HK's civilian rifles for literally every other market *except* North America have CL barrels, and the prices aren't significantly different. That's the real boggle to me. So it isn't simply a matter of production costs or HK deciding we suck and they hate us - there has to be some other interesting factors involved.
Posted elsewhere, distributors prices.

A bit confused that the pistol variant doesn't come with a brace like virtually every recent AR pistol on the market. Wondering if this is their way of just saving some $$'s and letting you choose your own stock (SBR) or brace. I'm assuming the buffer tube has the capacity to receive attachments, if not this is just a really strange move to not even include something like a very inexpensive Magpul pistol brace that's functional enough. Germans gonna be German, I guess.
