I would be willing to facilitate reviving the "Drill of the Month" concept for 2025, if it would help. We could try it for a year and see how things worked out.

Thanks for the offer @rj. I’m traveling and will get back to it next month with a PF staff meeting on the topic.

In Tom Givens Rangemaster monthly newsletter he always posts a drill of the month. That would be a good place to start.

Absolutely. I've put a few of those in my book. Just shot one last week, "Side Hustle +p".

Thinking about this, I agree 100%. Tom selects a drill in the newsletter, chosen based on his perspective of what’s interesting, useful and pertinent, monthly. His take is going to be a thousand times better than anything I come up with.

Posting one’s drill results, either in Tom’s thread, or a separate “Rangemaster DOTM” thread, seems like a no brainer to me.

I like the Rangemanster DOTM thread idea and would commit to embarrasing myself on the forum with my results.

One range trip per month is about all I seem to be able to make happen (the range is a ways from my house, it's a half day adventure), so the DOTM works much better than a DOTW.

And, bonus, every time I've shot a drill Tom told me to shoot, I was a better shooter afterwards

I pretty much suck at Dot Torture, but I am going to give it a go tomorrow with my P365 X Macro Frankengun. Just printed out a target and stuck it in my range bag.

I agree with you about Tom. He leaned in to me during class once and said quietly that I'd probably do better if I used the bumpy things on the top of the slide. He wasn't wrong.

Maybe this would be a good thing to do seasonally, instead of constantly.

If one month a year there was 4 DOTW presented by members the admin/mod staff selected it could help drive participation and forum networking. It would give members something to look forward to, a way for PF to recognize our respected SME's, and be short enough to prevent burnout. If you throw in a yearly T-shirt purchase and it would be very similar to a weightlifting challenge called "squatober" that is wildly popular. Even if you didn't sell a T-shirt to help fund PF I think having it be a temporary hard drive to shoot drills would probably be great way to up participation.

The reason I don't shoot them, is because I've had a lot of trouble finding a place to regularly practice and am mostly stuck with dryfire.

I shot the drill today, should we start a Rangemaster DOTM thread? Should it be one thread per drill/month?

I planned to put my results in the Rangemaster Newsletter thread, direct.

Rationale was kinda like, if I was seeing it on Facebook (I don't do Facebook, just sayin') I would post a picture of my target in that post, as a comment. Also, Tom's already taken the time to post his newsletter, seems like there's no need for him to take any more time to create or manage a parallel, separate thread for the drill. Of course no reason why anyone else can't start one, I guess.
