I've had no issues with probably a couple thousand Fiocchi SPP so far; for a while last winter/spring they were about all that was consistently available retail around here. That's in a mix of 9mm semi and 38sp revolvers, including older K-frames and a newer Python. It's been Federal brass for 9mm and Starline brass for the revolver loads, on a Dillon 550.

I loaded 100 rounds of .38 Special with SA primers a couple of months ago (3.7 231, 158 Berry's plated, mixed brass) and finally shot up the last 35 this morning. All 100 went bang and generally hit near where I was aiming. Which is usually a me problem, not an ammo problem.

OTOH, this is a CCI primer I loaded around the same time and also shot during this morning's session. Or at least tried to shoot. 3 strikes and still no bang. Maybe I'll keep it and call it my Creasy Special.

I have used both primers with good results.

I found that the SA seat easier than the Fiocchi. The SA feel like WIN and CCI. Just my 2 cents worth.

Have you loaded any of the SA primers yet?

I haven't yet. I will load some up in 38 special and try them in my various revolvers including the Bob Day PPC gun.

I gave up on using the SA and Fiocchi primers in my revolvers. I'm currently loading the Fiocchis in 9x19 and they work fine in my Walthers so far, and I expect the SAs to work in 9x19 as well. I've yet to try them in my Glocks and Berettas but expect them to be fine there too.

I bit the bullet and ordered a case of Federal 100s for my revolvers. $379 with shipping and hazmat from Outdoors Unlimited is the cheapest I could find. It's "only" twice what I paid for WSPs pre-Covid.

After my positive report in November of the first 100 working fine, things went to hell in a handbasket. Out of the last 300 I’ve loaded, I’ve had multiple failures to fire the first time in DA in multiple previously reliable revolvers.

I mean, it makes for a nice ball and dummy drill but that’s not exactly what I’m looking for when vetting a revolver.

I loaded up some of the SA for my Faux Pinto Security-Six and the Bob Day PPC gun. They did not work for the PPC gun, but I wasn't expecting them to. They worked fine (~200 rounds) in my -Six. If I can get CCI or WSP for close to the same price I will get them, but so far they haven't been horrible for me. I hope I haven't jinxed myself.

Federal small pistol primers are out there. Natchez has them on sale for $74.99 right now. https://www.natchezss.com/reloading/...r-1000ct-fa100
