Gaffer tape is more like duck tape. Slick on the outside. Goon tape is a fabric, more like a sports or medical tape. Very different. The goon tape will have a little more squshiness and stickiness.

Check out the G-10 Hogue Bantam Piranhas if you are looking for good checkering which is still good against skin, provides good grip and draws from pocket or AIWB without hanging up. I have the black version...doesn't have the "Damascus" appearance.

Be careful what you wish for. You might get it.

I've been eyeballing something like that, or the VZs that are checkered. I wish someone made a grip similar to the LG-405 laser grips... sans laser. That rubber cushion at the "horn" of the grip really tames even the hotter loads, and the checkered but not rubberized sides of the panels slip easily from pockets, but give enough purchase to steer the gun in recoil without requiring a death grip.

I'm thinking when the 405's become available again,
I may put another set on my 632, they do work well.

Did I do it right? That foam strip idea is pure gold! I can already tell it's going to be a lot more pleasant to shoot. Fills the palm much better too.

Looks good. Id run it up to the top of the back part of the frame next time. Like this:

I have a bunch more foam. I'm actually thinking of cutting it slightly wider so it wraps around the back strap slightly. I have pretty large hands and this extra LOP really helps more than I anticipated. Dry fire was pretty fun last night.

They are in my range bag. Don't use them much.

They tend to not be worn in daily life, while this sort of modification does follow you in daily life.
