You may be thinking about this differently. Here's my perspective:
1) Putting on gloves to shoot, especially padded ones, give different results on target than a bare hand/thin glove. Building the cushioning into the grip make sure there's consistency in length of pull/trigger reach, pressures on the grip, etc., including without gloves.
2) Being able to stop and shoot a box without needing extra stuff is pretty cool - especially if you're out of town, or an impromptu event with friends.
3) Shooting things that hurt tends to result in a decreased rate of progression in skill than things that don't hurt to shoot.
4) Hand injuries exacerbate recoil and pain, as evidenced by my left thumb for the last 2 months.
5) It's the easy button, and has less to fart around with.
Nobody said padded gloves are over-rated or anything like that - but man is it a lot easier to build comfort/control into the gun, than articles of clothing.

I can’t recommend Buffalo Bore for either their ammo Quality Control or their customer service.
Yeah- I can’t recommend their products as safe to use, nor well supported based on my sample.
I’ve had GREAT experiences with excellent support and customer service from others in this industry like Langdon at LTT and Adam at Aridus. And Federal, when I had issues with a batch of their “lead free” primers in their match ammo.
I’d assess Buffalo Bore to be….at the opposite end of that spectrum.
Update...
Finishing my snow and ice related chores, temporarily, I decided to revisit my attempt at @Lost River carry of my 642-1. Using what little horsepower I could pull from my cerebral cortex, I opined that if I were to move the LimbSaver slightly south from the upper region of the backstrap, and...wrap the vet wrap slightly higher, perhaps I might avoid the friction created by the rubberized LimbSaver upon drawing from my jacket pocket.
I am happy to report success...thus far. I am no longer getting the drag I was...probably because the corner is now just the aluminum frame and smoothly runs over the fabric instead of catching on rubber...and the LimbSaver is still high enough to fully protect the web between thumb and forefinger.
I'll take my small victories where I find them...and thought it might be useful for other dullards as well to consider making a small adjustment if they find that they snag the pocket as I had.
This is out of a Mika pocket holster for J frame, which seems to be better suited for my winter jacket pocket vs something less sturdy in build.
Oh, and the Hogues feel so much more comfortable with the wrap...like they were custom made to my hand...so...win-win.
Now I can do proper @Lost River carry with my newly acquired 148 gr wadcutters.
Be careful what you wish for. You might get it.
