Can someone vector me to a .32 discussion?

I see Ruger makes a 17 oz 6 round .327 LCR, model no 5452 - is that what you guys are talking about? I know zip about 32 / .327 / 32HR so I’m not sure if all are these are the same caliber/shoot out of the same gun? I kinda need it at Barney the Purple dinosaur level. Thanks!

Think of it like .22 rimfire - short, medium, long, magnum (but all the same chamber). .32 seems to be more accurate for me than .38 on average for some reason.

32Long has marginally more recoil than .22mag, with a bullet that's 2x as heavy, .327FedMag can approach rifle pressures, and a .32H&R is a pretty happy spot. All can be shot out of the .327 LCR.

.32H&R wadcutters can easily achieve required penetration depths without the recoil.

Well, as I suspected, the LCR is winning the contest. It is especially good to see that no LCR, among the first 57 replies to the poll, has had to go back to the mother ship twice. The LCR remains the top contender, should I decide to add a light-in-weight .32 revolving pistol.

As for S&W, well, I will just say that I am so very glad I bought our two S&W J-snubs, chambered .32 H&R, that were made back when S&W still remembered how to get things done right.

First lcr22 perfect. Sold to.a buddy as shooting the volume I was was increasing my lead levels too much and I decided I wasn't comfortable carrying a 22lr

Second LCR22 wouldn't ignite primers consistently. Went back.to ruger twice without fix. Sold to someone with full disclosure.

9mm lcr - great reliability. Some rounds would.not extract. Learned I can't shoot a 9m lcr to the standards I want and sold it

    Essentially what jeep said.

.32's are backward compatible. A revolver chambered in .327 Federal Magnum will fire .32 H&R Magnum, .32 Long, .32 Short, and even .32 ACP (due to it's semi-rimmed case). Centerfire cartridge reliability over .22 variants. Six shots in the same size cylinder as a five shot .38.

.327 Fed Mag is akin to .357 Mag as far as pressure/blast/recoil. .32 H&R Mag and .32 Long much more pleasant and controllable in lightweight snubs.

I've got a boringly reliable 22lr LCR that has been fed a steady diet of Federal Punch over the last two years (~2,500-3,000 rounds). Other than needing to clean the cylinders every 200-300 rounds, I've had no issues. The wax from Punch builds up quickly causing ejection of spent casings to get tougher as round count builds. I chalk that up to being an ammo quirk rather than an issue with the gun.

    Totally agree.

Minor drift: I just returned from my local indoor range.

I shot about 75 rounds of .38 in my LCR (158 gr Coated at 725 fps). Shoots well out to 15 yards...then I suck.

My hand hurts. Getting old sucks and my .327 LCR will be accompanying me on Friday.
.32 S&W Long and .32 H&R have simply become my favorite revolver rounds.
    Thankfully I handload.

Now, where did I put my ibuprofen?

Well crap that’s just great, now I need a LCR in .327. . Off to find a thread comparing effectiveness of .38 WC (say Fed GMM) and .32.

Thanks all, I appreciate the horsey-ducky level of explanation.

    @RJ
Been looking in the same direction, all I've found is, kinda same, nothing definitive...
I'd like 6 rd's but the 38 750-800 fps WC recoil doesn't bother me. Do you start a
new pricey caliber with a 32 UC / LCR, run with a 6rd 38 (considering K6XS) or just
stick with 5rd J / LCR, I have been shooting my LCR9 which is a bit more stout but
manageable and certainly gives a Ballistic advantage, carries well and (for me)
draw's from jean's pocket surprisingly well.
