I'm also old enough to remember when a downloaded .41 Mag (200g@900fps) revolver was going to be the LE gun of the future...

Anecdotally, it did work pretty well. The bullet was a 210-grain LSWC.

I can't believe no one has commented on Manny's "trigger discipline" yet...
All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
No one is coming. It is up to us.

Meh, it’s just Manny being Manny.
    Bad ideas, brilliant execution

I may be slow, but I get there.

The two large agencies that issued the .41 mag were San Francisco CA PD and San Antonio TX PD. Per a retired SAPD officer who is also a shooter and started his career around that time, the problem with the .41s was that the down loaded Remington “police load” was very dirty and leaded the guns up so badly it would cause reliability issues at very low round counts so guys quickly went back to .357s.

I can personally vouch for the dirty part. The Winchester load wasn’t any better. HSM makes a .41 Mag “cowboy” load that appears close to the original specs but with a hard cast LSWC. I need to get a box of them and see how they are.

    I've a second-gen 2004 P-99QA in .40 S & W. It aten't horrible. Stouter recoil than is strictly desirable? Yeah, probably. More accurate than I am, and a PPQ-esque trigger.
(apparently this is rare in the QAs.) It's about 1500 rounds from a scheduled RSA change.

I'll shoot a .40 SW99, if someone else has one, but I hear they are benighted things. I wonder how come.

The video is up to Lucky Gunner's usual high standards.
