Thread: Appleseed shooters?

I was just looking to use my shooting jacket. It's vintage now (over 20 years old counts as vintage right?) and I have never used it.

A good stiff shooting jacket might make elbow pads irrelevant.

    Bad ideas, brilliant execution

I may be slow, but I get there.

Fred's (commercial enterprise of the originator of the Apple seed Project) used to sell cloth jackets for expressly the purpose of helping people become Rifleman. In general the program tends to "look down" on things like better highpower jackets, match conditioned rifles, made grade ammo- but definitely allows it.

The jacket you have will allow you to be more comfortable in position and is a valuable training aid. If you want to go along with their " rack grade / tacti-cool / anti UN undercurrent" put on elbow pads over a denim carhartt jacket and use a welding glove or bbq mitt.

I shot Rifleman, 1st day, first try with a norinco jw-15 (cz brno clone) I paid $100 for and the jack leg running it grumbled about me using eley sport ammo ( made by augila ,bought at camp perry for a song). The augilla ammo didn't make me earn the patch first time out - something he felt shouldn't happen it was the fact I was a prior NCAA 3 p competitor in smallbore and air rifle events, and had shot highpower since being junior shooter...

I've ran across more instructors within Appleseed and Revere's Rider that think they've peaked at the knowledge base, and it makes me sad.

I understand they are volunteer organizations, but refusing to foster a growth mentality of their folks is exceedingly frustrating.

Fred was a high power competitor who had opinions about the sport and our country and didn't want the "arms race" of highpower to scare off average joes from learning how to hold a 4 MOA group. His volunteers are often well meaning but f'ng clueless.

If I shoot another applesseed , my rifle will be 1 of 2 things a single shot anschutz match rifle that I single load during rapid fire events to prove a point (and make me work my ass off) or one of my prs rifles w/ traillboss / lcoated ead bullets/ and a can because it would be fun, cheap, no real barrel wear and tear, and I suspect the targets would make a statement...
