I considered cutting a sap shape out of plate steel. Would take work to get the balance right.
There is a club known as a Patu sort of sap shaped made out of hard materials.

What do y'all think of 2-ply vs. 4-ply? At this point I'm thinking 4-ply for training (more durable), and 2-ply for carry (lighter/thinner).

Am I missing something I should be considering?

    Any thoughts ?
I like his stuff quite a bit. The 7.5” 11 ounce flat jack he did for me came out REALLY well balanced.

I reached out to Mark Luell today. Couldn't help myself. Thanks for mentioning his work, fellas.

The Blackjack is nowhere near a foster, but it thumps.
The one closest to the tape measure I carried from 1979-1988. Looked just like that and was called the Convoy.

Personally I’d just go 4 ply and be done with it.

Have you seen the ones Barry Jones' makes for Laci Szabo?
I'd like a Pocket Patu to use on my keys.

Laci, and Fred Perrin are a couple of old friends. Fred always had something brewing in his laboratory of improvised weapons.
