I picked up this S&W 13-1 (1977) a few months back and was not sure which direction to take it.

After a little research, I landed on a retro 70’s style “Smython” build that really fit my taste.
I sourced a blued 4 inch, Mag-na-ported Colt Python barrel and sent it off to Ten-Ring Precision in Texas for the works.
The barrel swap with a single ball-yoke lockup was installed. A long tang rear sight was added to bridge the top strap gap. The cylinder was machined for a moon clips, hammer bobbed and the backstrap was stippled. A complete action job was preformed and then re-blued.
It’s back in my hands now and I’m very happy with the result. The action is unbelievably nice! I can’t wait to shoot it. The fixed sighted model 13 is not the easiest revolver to use for this project but the finished product is pretty killer. This will be carried and shot a lot for sure. I could have bought a vintage Python for the price of the work but I wanted something different.
