Vermont doesn't have permits. Permitless carry is the only option.
Just a note, some states want you to be a resident of the state issuing the permit for it to be valid for usage. Thus, PA has reciprocity with TX but my TX out of state permit won't work as I'm not a resident of TX. Oh, wait - didn't some senator once say reciprocity was going to happen along with the sun shining tomorrow.

Florida licenses are relatively easy to obtain and FL was very aggressive early in obtaining reciprocity agreements. I still maintain a FL license because it still gets me a few states that a PA license will not, for example, Delaware. A nonresident FL license is honored by a large number of states, so it is worth considering if your home state will not issue a license.

The sub-context of this thread is why I went to the effort of obtaining an Idaho enhanced permit, as a WA resident.
