Of course, many worthwhile YouTube presentations exist, but the high tonnage of bullshit from this source dismays me. I never checked, but I heard that you can find Amish porn there and even full length J's Witness masturbation movies. Get thee behind thee, Satan!

So you have people turning what used to be an enjoyable place on the internet to find relevant stuff of varying quality into an infinite sewer of YOUR FAVORITE THING IS ragebait and CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS YOU WON'T BELIEVE clicktrolling of varying quality. And if time or attention is currency, then there's a cost associated with this stuff.
And ironically one of the most successful YouTubers is the antithesis, hickok45.
One day I was experimenting with a new TV that would let me throw YT up there from my phone, and as a test I started a H45 video. I had instantly proved that it would work, but as a human nature experiment I let it play, so I could see how long it took for MrsMMc to say What the hell are we watching?!?!? How long is this going to be on?!??! Are we going to watching stuff like this all the time?!?!??!, when then she said I like this guy, he has a nice folksy presentation...

If you think my opinions or the gear I like or don't like is dumb, I don't care. You might even be right. You may go on to say on your Youtube or Instagram that "everyone who likes this is dumb." You might even say that to my face. As long as you don't tell me I can't have it, we're cool.

To be fair, the old gun rags pioneered the art of gunny rage click by turning to the well-used content well of Semiauto vs Revolver; .45 vs 9mm; AR vs M14; 1911 vs Glock; and other topics guaranteed to make some portion of the gun community mad enough to read the article.

I once talked to an editor of major gun rag. He said that he would prefer technical articles on this and that but they had a 3 year cycle of the same topics that were going to gather sales by new purchasers getting into SD for the most part or liking fantasy assault rifle pieces. That correlated with the ads from manufacturers and reviews from some of various critical content.

I also read that wedding magazines have the same cycle as it picks up planning the wedding, having the wedding, having the honeymoon - 3 years. They didn't have the affair, the divorce, the custody fight in a cycle.

Some time ago I mused that a great TV lineup would be The Dating Game followed by The Newlywed Game and concluding with Divorce Court. Never caught on tho.

A friend from another hobby (RIP) was the editor of one of the big CA handgun mags. During calls I learned to never ask how things were going at work because we never got around to talking about our hobby. He hated the cycle.
