CMS Pistol Mounted Optics Instructor - Zanesville OH 6/21-23/24

John & Sue Burton are hosting my pistol-mounted optics instructor class at Briar Rabbit Shooting Sports in Zanesville, Oh.

    Pistol Mounted Optics Instructor Course

    Tuition $630 (includes range fee)

Pistol-mounted optics aren’t coming; they are here!
This course focuses on how to teach the optic for reactive and proactive use while taking legal and human factors into consideration while addressing what does and doesn't change with the PMO. Students will develop a knowledge-based foundation for addressing equipment, training, plus program and policy development concerns.

Equipment: 650 rounds of reliable pistol ammunition, mid to full-size handgun w/optic, proper holster, three magazines with pouches, and a suitable belt. Eye & ear protection, appropriate range attire for the weather conditions. Note-taking materials, fluids, and snacks.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of state or national law enforcement firearms instructor program -or- Rangemaster's advanced instructor course. If you don't have the RM cert, please reach out and we can talk.

About the Instructor: Erick is a lead instructor (or range master) at Gunsite and a retired Sheriff's Sergeant from northern California. Based on his experience and training with pistol-mounted optics, he was asked to develop Gunsite's pistol-mounted optics classes. He served in the US Army and made it through grad school. Erick also taught for Aimpoint and is a presenter at Rangemaster's yearly TacCon.

This is a superb class. I took it last year. Erick does a great job working with each student to help them build a program that works for their agency or needs.

It's definitely not "Okay, shoot these drills and collect your paper". You do a lot of work learning how to analyze and present training to shooters.

Here are two class reviews from people that know their business: Warren Wilson and BrYan Eastridge. I am kinda biased, both of those guys are friends. But their thoughts are spot on.

Do you have room for one more student?

My thanks to everyone who came out and my A/I, Monty!

Feedback from a couple of the students:
Here's a review from one cop in the class:

To preface my comments: I am the farthest thing from an "Instructor Groupie " (we all know those) that there is. So believe me when I say-this was one of the finest classes and instruction that I have ever had. Erick explains everything and WHY, which many instructors dont. He takes feedback and can answer deep questions. He explains where all his material comes from and gives credit to others. He invites inquiry for why he is teaching and is able to explain his methods. We debriefed the class and he took notes and listened to the positives, and what we thought might make it better. We were working with serious heat issues and he and his AI were staying on top of everyone's health and safety. Its embarrassing to admit that I was the weakest one in the class for a couple different reasons, and Erick never made me feel like the weak link, but worked around my restrictions. After I recover from my next surgery to make me able to shoot without pain, I will be searching out more training from him!

And from a decent normal human:

I've been fortunate enough to take shooting and shooting related courses for the last 30 years from some of the best teachers out there - Erick ranks right up there with those folks. His courses always follow a logical progression and focus on the foundational fundamentals of whatever techniques are being taught. Highly recommended!

This was a valuable training experience! I was a little swamped on return and am now getting an AAR up. Check the AAR forum for it!
