432UC Ti defects and missing Hamre Forge grips

My newly purchased 432UC Ti is currently in “gun jail” for the Colorado 3 day waiting period…
On initial inspection, I found that the Hamre Forge grips were missing. I’ve already contacted Jason (@JEC), and he’s going to send them to me.
    Great service from Lipsey’s!

On the other hand - the cylinder gap measured 0.009”, well outside the spec of 0.004-0.007”. Also some rub marks on inside of the frame under the barrel, which appears to be from the crane immediately forward of where the cylinder attaches.
I’m currently reaching out to S&W to initiate a trip to the mothership to get those addressed.

Not nearly as clean a process as the purchase of my first 432UC.

I got some Lost River 32 H&R Mag wadcutters and High Desert 32 Long wadcutters in. I've fired about 30 the Mags and 15 of the Longs without any of the light primer strikes that I experienced with the MagTech ammo. I had already ordered a longer firing pin from TK Custom that I installed today.

The pin came with a lightweight spring that was too light to retract the firing pin back to its unfired position. Since I'm not using a lighter weight hammer spring I just reinstalled the factory firing pin spring and everything functioned fine.

The TK Custom firing pin protrudes noticeable further than factory and my fired cases show a deeper indent on the primer. It was probably not necessary for good ammo, but the added peace of mind is nice.

An odd observation of the factory firing pin is that it's mostly hollow. I'm not sure if that is a weight saving measure or just the way the way they're making them now.

Well, this is disappointing QC. Sorry that this happened to you.

If anyone doesn't like the Hamre Forge ARF grips, I'm looking for a set.

The new .32 H&R Magnum load from Federal has apparently dropped:

    https://www.federalpremium.com/handg...P32HRHSD1.html

KYGunco is selling it for almost $10/box cheaper.

As I've experienced failures to ignite with LR wadcutters, I'm eager to get my hands on the Federal rounds.

Unfortunate that that’s what gets sent out. The ones I’ve played with in stores have been very nice and the triggers being above average to good.

Before you send it back, I would shoot it a bunch so it doesn’t have to go back again for a canted barrel or a screwed up firing pin

At one point, the turnaround on a frame refinish was 6 to 8 weeks just FYI

I decided to order a 432UC Ti today. I don’t have a J-frame and was looking for something lighter than my typical G26 to pocket carry around the house. People’s QC experiences seem to be mixed. If the gun has issues I’ll reach out to Lipsey’s. It sounds like Jason has been taking care of everyone who has had a problem.

Probably not much more expensive than practice ammo for the 32

Too bad it’s a Hydra shock deep. But likely there’s not enough juice to make the other designs work consistently.

Why is Federal using the Hydrashok (Deep) in some of these loads like .32 and .45 Colt instead of HST? Like when they announced the new .44 Mag and .45 Colt loads, the .44 was HST and the .45 was Hydrashok. Why not use the more advanced bullet design? It was my understanding that Hydrashok isn’t all that reliable of an expander.

I don't believe today's Hydra-Shock is identical to the HS as first introduced. I believe the design has been refined over time and probably performs better today than it did in the 90's.

We don't see a lot of FBI standard ballistic testing by reliable independent third parties of non-service caliber rounds. If Federal's own testing is to be believed, HST Deep seems to perform pretty well out of smaller guns. The ability to push the projectile in the new .32 H&R Mag loading to 1,000 FPS in a snub is pretty impressive.
