How to remove Pearce Glock grip plug

How have people removed these plugs? This one is in a gen 5 19 and pushing on the detent with a punch doesn’t move it. Thanks for the help.

Push inward and downward with a punch until the dimple clears the frame. It should start to pop out.

Unlike the CHPWS plug which comes right out, I have had mixed results in successfully removing the Pierce plug, and break it about half the time it seems.

If the plug is really just stuck, heating up the grip with a hair dryer might help to create enough of a gap to allow you to lever it out.

I ended up removing the plug by drilling a pilot hole, partially driving a wood screw, and pulling the plug out my the screw with pliers. It came out with little force.
