I recall that the MDR was announced back in 2014 but took close to 2-3 years to be delivered to people who placed deposits. There were also teething issues when it finally was released. The platform was out less than a decade and it’s being shelved. Granted, DesertTech is supporting the warranty, but such is the risk of buying new hotness.
Then, there is the whole supporting a company tied to the Mormon Kingston Clan cult.
