My mistake, judging from IG looks like an ACRO that mounts to a vent rib, not a micro.

You beat me to it, the image I saw looked suspiciously like a P2 on a vent rib.

Well that will be underwhelming. Especially if it's still a 3.5 MOA dot.

    Agree.

I wonder what is really left to do in the dot world though, at least in terms of major innovation. Everyone is working on smaller/lighter/cheaper but I can't think of any major change that could be coming.

Aimpoint dot technology inside a compact LVPO, maybe?

You know, you just reminded me, the last time I was at a SHOT show was whatever year it was last in Orlando, and I recall asking the A I point folks when they were going to dispense with all this magnifier bs and just do a variable.

At the time what I wanted was a 1-or-4x vs a 1-to-4x (and I think I still would, honestly) but with the advances since then it would seem to me that they could do a lot higher than 4.

But given the sneak-preview shot above that's probably not what this is…

I know that recommendation had an adverse impact on someone's job there previously.

Definitely outside of my sphere of influence. I know where I have none.

If this is a vent rib shotgun sight I see no reason to assume Aimpoint wouldn’t use a larger dot as they did on prior vent rib shotgun sights.

I don’t know if it was a problem on shotguns but when aim point micros were mounted on pistol slides, the weak point was the rotating dial for brightness adjustment not holding up under recoil. The push button adjustments on the ACR. What address that issue

Personally, I would like to see a standard P2 pistol sight with a larger dot (5-6 MOA).

For defensive use of a carbine, I think a red dot is preferable to a LPVO, as the red dot makes target focusing easier and lends itself to being shot more aggressively. Of course if you like to shoot groups or reach way out, the LPVO is preferable.
