Thread: Regrets, I Haz Them

  1. #41
    Around 2006 or so I bought a 3 inch SW 64 police trade in for $240. I wish I had bought 2

A few years ago I passed up a SW 67 with stainless rear sight for $400. Passed on the same model in 1988 at $180

Passed on a 41 magnum Ruger ss Bisley nib at just over $600 just before covid

Sold a Ruger SS 41 Magnum Redhawk for $275 in 1993

    The list could go on...

The only two that come to mind are a Vopo Luger and a Model 28 converted to .44 Special. The Luger was ~$600 at a show 10-12 years ago. I had the cash but wanted to see what else was at the show before committing.

The Model 28 was an online purchase in the mid-00s from a vendor 6 hours or so away who offered to bring it to the local show a couple of weeks later. When I showed up at the table I was told they'd forgotten it at the shop. Since I'd taken the day off, paid for parking and paid to get into the show I was not a happy camper. Smarter me would have arranged to have it shipped to the shop that usually did my transfers on their dime. Dumber me let my money get mad and demanded a refund.

    Close enough?
If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.

I still remember the first S&W Model 19 Texas Ranger Commemorative I ever saw--I must have been about 16 or 17, already owned a four-inch 19-3 and was looking to add to my small accumulation of Guns--MAN, that Texas Ranger Commemorative was SHARP-Looking! LOVED the Knife, too--But I thought it was WAY too much money, so I never have picked one up...

About 15 years ago I passed on one of the first-run Model 29-5 Magna Classic guns that a co-worker had & wanted to get rid of--The price was quite attractive & the Gun was PRISTINE & the Package was complete--But it was SO PRETTY I KNEW that I would never be able to bring myself to shoot it, and I LIKE to shoot, so much so that I promised myself long ago I would never buy or trade into a Gun that was too rare, too valuable or too PRETTY to shoot--But I DO MISS that Magna Classic sometimes...

To me, it's one of those keep it forever guns.
The next one won't get away! I'm in a different place financially and can bare some pain for the stupidity of my youth.

    Always searching!

Not guns, but in 2000 I went into a Porsche specialist that had 6-7 993s in immaculate condition for $60-$70,000. I have regretted everyday since that I didn't buy one.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Well, if we're thread drifting into cars, Nissan did a run of fully factory restored 240Z's sometime back around the late 90's to early Oughts. I think it was some sort of anniversary thing plus they were between the 300ZX being retired and the 350Z being launched, so were trying to keep the Z name in the news. $20K each as I remember it. Had to have been a way to scratch the money together. Had to... 😀

    I can pee outside.
If we are going in this direction, in 1984, I passed on a 1971 Chevy El Camino, SS, 427.
    4 speed.
Someone painted it Harley Davidson plumb crazy purple, as re-did the vinyl interior in white leather.

I was stone broke, and couldn't afford the 5k at the time.
