My mother wouldn't let me have a GI Joe because it was a doll, although strangely I was allowed to have Major Matt Mason and his space station. My parents also wouldn't let me have a BB gun, and we know how that turned out.
That is truly AWESOME!

Ah, yes- memories of my misspent childhood. I was delighted to find out that my GI Joe figures fit into my Star Wars vehicles, and a shared universe was born- that also involved Transformers.

I never got the USS Flagg (see my recent meme thread post), but my parents got a new filing cabinet at about that time and the box made a great hangar for my two GI Joe helicopters.
I had a bookcase made of cinderblocks and plywood- a perfectly adequate 'underground headquarters'.
