I wonder how the Goddess of the Laundry Room would take to that stuff as compared to her usual potions and mystical procedures?

    Thanks for the info!

You haven't been a gunner very long if you've never put some ammo through the spin cycle.

Yesterday, I cycled out 30 rounds of Federal HST 124 grain standard pressure. I bought the rounds in 2021 and stored them properly. No failures to fire but I did notice that the report and recoil were milder than what I remembered. The guys watching me shoot told me that ejection was ok but not brisk out of my G26. Not sure if these are signs of degradation.

On the other hand, the Blazer Brass 124 that I shot for the rest of the morning ejected vigorously with the brass pile being around 10 feet away from me. That ammo was from a batch imported into the country mid-year 2023.

This relates directly to my issues with lead levels in my blood being when 7.1 when 0-3.4 is the normal acceptable range.

Is that cleaning fluid useful? Have you used it? Thanks.

I haven’t used it and I’m not sure that it’ll make a difference in your application.

What I do - do is D-lead wipe my shoes when leaving the range and scrub them on the grass before getting in my car after shooting indoors.

Thanks. Is that the D-lead wipes for hands or the D-lead wipes for surface that you use on your shoes?

I usually try and shoot leadless primers indoors (Syntech) but when I can’t help it (223 and 22LR) I’ll be more vigilant about after prep which usually looks like:

Washing hands and mouth with water and soap.
Dlead hand wipes to hands and lips (bring chapstick, it’s drying) and then I drop the hand wipe on the floor and wipe my feet on it like a mat.

I'm glad I read this thread. I think the 147-grain HST in my Shield Plus has been in there coming up on two years now, and at least that long in my nightstand Glock 17.

I'm just a desk civvie so I'm guessing my ammo's shelf life is a good bit longer than someone carrying it for duty purposes, but I think two years is about the max of my comfort level.

Time for a "shoot the old stuff" trip.
