    Ruger American Rifle Gen II

Perusing this morning's Tactical Wire revealed a couple of gems.

One is Ruger's new American Rifle Gen II.

    https://ruger.com/products/americanR.../overview.html

Several months ago, my LGS was hosting a Ruger Days event.
I had lamented to one of the reps that more models ought to be available with the compact stock, like a drop-down menu option or something.
He mutely held my gaze for a few seconds, then said, "There's a reason I'm not saying anything." (wink-wink/nudge-nudge/know-what-I-mean)

So, which upcoming Ranch model would be a better Scout-ish south Texas deer/hog slayer? 6.5 Creedmoor or 6.5 Grendel?

    ETA-
    Would .300 BO be enough?

The Ranch in 6.5 Creedmore with 16" barrel and an LPVO would likely be a compelling purchase for me.

Ruger seems to stay on top of what people want at a reasonable price. I sold my Howa Mini last summer so may look at one in 5.56 now that I no longer have a 5.56 bolt rifle.
In the P-F basket of deplorables.

I know there's not a huge demand for iron sights on these but there is some. I am bummed there isn't an option for them. Across the entire line maybe doesn't make sense but at least on the Ranch Rifle models.

I think this thing in .300BLK would be enough for me.

    Thanks for the heads up!

$750 or less for a reliable 6.5lb bolt gun with a modern stock with cheek riser and adjustable LOP? Count me interested! The 6.5 PRC model especially.

Lots of good features.... Then the stupid drop at the heel of the stock.

I see 6 and 22 ARC as options. The 6 can be loaded pretty hot for bolt guns. Is the same true for the 22? I assume so.

I assume the 22 ARC will end up being the more popular of two. I think it will have a bit broader appeal as a varmint or small game cartridge.

Having never shot a similar stock, what problem does this cause??

I have a Ranch in 6.5G and absolutely love it. I put a compact stock on it.
I had an ER nurse in a class. I noticed she kept taking all head shots. Her response when asked why, "'I've seen too many people who have been shot in the chest putting up a fight in the ER." Point taken.
