It is amazing how personal carry gear can be.
The G23/Galco Summer Special combo I carried for years now is a no go due to sciatica flare ups.
The muzzle is at the exact spot to irritate a nerve.
I bought a G17 size Tenicor blem IWB holster which does not hit that spot and can be used with my 17/22 or 19/23.
Wish they made one for my new/used M&P 2.0 .45….
I was working an extra security job a few years ago at a bank.
I was standing up against a wall and felt what I can describe as a sharp pinpoint pain run down my right butt cheek all the way down to my knee.
I took a step almost falling down as for a split second I felt no control in my right leg.
I caught myself and for the next several months dealt with sciatica pain.
My only guess is wearing a sam browne belt for the past 30 plus years.
Packing a 1911, the carry feels much more secure with the sam browne belt being tighter as with a glock, I can open it up one notch for comfort.
I am hoping to be packing my MCOP soon again on duty and also hoping that dude Sciatica keeps quiet.
If you're going to be a bear….be a GRIZZLY!
If I was stuck in a locale which fully prohibited standard capacity magazines, I would be tempted to go with 45 Auto. Heavy .45 projectiles tend to punch through bone and glass better than 9mm--if that is a consideration, then 45 Auto might be a better choice. If I reloaded .45 and had a large supply of components for it and not for 9mm, I would choose 45 Auto. Likewise, if I was issued free 45 Auto ammo, but not 9mm, I would go with the larger caliber.
Several years ago, I sold almost all my custom 1911's after finding that the M&P45 offered 98.5% of the performance capability, with substantially less cost, effort, and maintenance issues, as well as being easier to mount an RDS. I have had no regrets about that decision. The M&P45 proved the best pistol of the first gen M&P's; the second gen M&P9's seem to be working fine now.
