Glock 19 - Gen 3 slide on a Gen 4 frame

In a decade-old post, I found this:

A friend at Glock saw this thread and sent me a text message as follows: Can run a 3 slide on a 4 frame, but definitely not recommended as frame damage will eventually result...

Does anyone know why this would be the case? I don’t doubt the veracity of Todd’s statement, but can’t picture why it would matter. (Of course, you have to use the Gen 3 recoil spring.)

Definitely ill-advised. Different recoil spring assembly.
