Piggybacking off the LVPO thread in Rifles and Carbines...RFI: single mag pouch

To add to my thread from Rifles and Carbines, I was wondering what folks use to carry a single AR magazine on a standard 1.5/1.75 belt? I am not looking for a battle belt set up and don't want to run a covert chest rig, I am just looking for a way to carry a single AR magazine under a teeshirt or light flannel. I would like to have this on me when I am out in the desert to provide some additional ammunition if I had to grab my rifle and exit my truck quickly. I would like to keep it low profile to not attract attention when out of the truck. I do carry a backpack with all my necessities in the truck but recently have realized I could encounter a situation where it might not be possible to immediately grab the backpack.

I have a Raven Lictor that I keep in my travel kit. While it does an great job of carrying and retaining magazines, it flops around on my belt and is prone to sliding back and forth.

I was looking at something more like the Raven Copia. I am not really concerned about the width of the carrier on the belt so much as the stability is provides. I like to get out, hike around and explore, so I am looking for something that would comfortable to wear all day in the truck and stable enough to hike with.

Does anyone have any other recommendations?

    Thank in advance!

    Matt

The Wilderness has a pouch that might work for you.

I've used the Blue Force Gear 10 speed this way for years. It's so light, if you have nothing in it you'll forget it's there. It comes in two ride heights.

    I like the RCS Copia PR2: https://rcsgear.com/copia-pr2-combo

If I were looking to carry just one, though, I'd either get the rifle Copia: https://rcsgear.com/copia-rifle-magazine-carrier
    Or the Lictor: https://rcsgear.com/lictor-ar-magazine-carrier

(Probably the Lictor - I'd get the Copia PR if I wanted just one rifle magazine in something that isn't quick mountable or dismountable to my belt.)

I have used a Blade-Tech pouch while attending a rifle/carbine class but have never tried to wear it concealed.

Maybe the High Speed Gear TACO with the belt mount loop?

If you want a smoother look they have the variant they call Duty TACO but you have to add the clips.

Lots of options, and probably none conceal really well depending on your body type.

I just gave it a try, and can 'somewhat' conceal an EssTac Kiwi under a baggy hoodie. I wouldn't want to wear it all day though.

It also is not quick on/off, their belt loops are fixed loops. Not sure if the ability to have an extra mag/pouch to quickly clip on the belt if needed is important to you.

If I felt the need to have extra rifle ammo in my truck to grab in an emergency, I would probably:

    - Have a quick on/off mag pouch staged in the driver's door side compartment
    - Have a buttstock mag pouch permanently installed on the carbine (this is kind of an ugly solution, but it might work for such a specific use case)

    https://www.blueforcegear.com/high-m...elt-pouch.html this one right?

I used one in a John Mosby "general preparedness rifle" class and it works well. While removal from the pouch is easy enough, it is very difficult to reinsert and I quickly reverted to using my back jean pocket.

I do recall it preformed well when running and shooting a barricade drill.

If you want to be classy 5 Shot Leather makes a really nice looking AR mag pouch.

    EDIT:

Thanks for all the suggestions! I had not thought about a magazine pouch attached to the rifle. I love the look of the 5-shot and that reminded me to check the box of shame for an AR mag pouch I got years back from Simply Rugged.

I should add that I am not trying to fully conceal the magazine, just keep it lower profile. There still are lots of good folks out there driving around, exploring, and having fun. I don't want to roll up on folks with a battle belt or chest rig and freak them out. It is sad we have come to this within the borders of the US.

    Thanks again!
