I started out with a 26” 20 gauge for bird hunting as a kid, hunted birds every chance I got and was blessed to have good bird dogs up until 2004 when my last dog passed. Over 30 years a good shotgun was the most important gun I had, I tried many different guns and my guns got shorter and lighter until I got a 21” Benelli M1 Super 90. It is my perfect field gun.

I took it to the skeet range and did alright there but I was a hunter. I shot lots of quail, dove and pheasant, used it turkey hunting, crow hunting and killed more than a few coyotes. I tried other Benelli’s 24”, 26”, 28”, none equaled the 21”. I still have that gun and it now fires more buckshot than bird shot but I’m picking up a new M2 tactical this week and hope to put the M1 back to killing birds.
