Thread: Wilderness Tactical Swift Belt

  1. #111
Sooo, funny story. I had been reading through this thread and figured I'd give one a try from the responses of the past few pages. Saw the ideas of running the tail on the inside and really liking that idea, I figured I'd give that a try when it arrives. I've been using the Masterminds specialist belt for about 2 years and while I loved it, the velcro seemed to be aging with the day on and day off use as well I started really liking the idea of "set it and forget it" having a buckle like the Wilderness belts offered so I ordered an easy fit, 5 stitch in grey and it arrived today.

I put it on after checking it out something just seemed off. I like running the tail on the inside like others have discussed and then it hit me and I came back to this thread and compared it on the website just to be sure. I could be wrong, but I believe the velcro on this particular one was sewn on the inside of the belt. I say "inside" because both hook and loop are on the same side as the wilderness and size tags. After looking at models on the website and from other pics in this thread, it leads me to the same conclusion. It showed up threaded so that it would go to the inside and that was how I tried it on not really thinking anything of it. I don't know how their manufacturing process goes, but I'm also wondering if the company/size tag was just sewn on the wrong side? In any case it's a bonus for me and so far I couldn't be happier with it lol, but maybe I’m just mistaken and I ordered wrong?

So far, I absolutely love the firm but flexibility it offers and I find it more comfortable than the mastermind. Being a bit smaller in the waist belts can get too rigid too quick as its been noted in this thread.

I ordered a size 33 and that allows me 3 inches on either side of 33 for a total range of 6 inches regardless of tail in or tail out.

I guess what I was trying to get at was how well the buckle holds the setting without the use of the velcro to lock it down, and whether you can easily adjust if need be.

    Thanks.

I just made a video demoing it but I’m not able to upload it. The retention has been fine with the tail on the inside. The demo video was 36 seconds showing both tightening and loosening. So I guess it takes about 15 seconds to do one or the other.

Thanks, Paul. I may try it at some point.

I decided to flip my Swift inside out and I'm digging it better than with the velcro on the outside: The tail cannot catch on my belt loops this way.

Of course, it cost me the ability to easily adjust the belt in or out if I need it. But except for the first day or two of finding its sweet spot, I haven't needed to deal with it.

So... This is that one detail I chose to not discuss at all. Both Sam and I haven't had issues, nor have the 20-30 people who've had buckles, but I was really expecting the first customer to come back and post all over the world with "I can't micro-adjust it 47 times a day as easily as I'd like", as if we need to do so.

I'm in the same boat, I've got three different settings at most, and I can nail the feel easily and then be set. Sans-gun, with gun, and then with gun in a different pants type. Would I love to have the ability to change the length for every fry I ate at lunch? Sure... But my biggest issue was having a good belt that support AIWB and a normal, everyday life. To get that, I needed this webbing and something that didn't have the velcro sound, something that wasn't threading all the time, and something fast.

I'm glad everyone here is doing what I expected, trying it, tinkering, and finding things that work.

5-Stitch model here, sweet belt, works just like my original Wilderness belts as expected, with the Swift Buckle printing way less. I prefer it over my Zero belt. 1 week daily wear on vacation, quick range trip for some practice, no complaints. It works for AIWB and regular IWB with my Milt Sparks holsters.

Got my five-stitch last week, and I love it. It's probably stiff enough for most people (holster feels nicely supported), and with the swift buckle, I really appreciate not having to rip off velcro every time I drop my pants. Thanks for telling us about it @Dark Star Gear !
