I'm surprised to learn that the Garmin doesn't track velocity at 100, 200, 300, etc. like the Lab Radar does. That info is pretty useful for longer range and let's the shooter better calculate drops at distance.

Can you elaborate? I’m genuinely curious how you use the velocities at distances to calc your DOPE?
Currently I’m using a Kestrel w/ AB and just use the MV as a starting point when I build the bullet profile, plus all the other bullet data to calculate my dope. Then confirm at known distance and tweak either MV or BC (sometimes both) until DOPE matches actual.
I played with a Lab Radar a few years ago and seem to recall that it would provide velocity data at different distances. I guess I'm confusing it and the new Caldwell radar unit.

I linked this already in this thread. It seems rather large and bulky when compared to the Garmin but it does offer some additional data.

Has anyone tried shooting over a Xero downrange? Curious if it'll pick up the shot.

"I know several guys who have fired past their Garmins as far out as 1,000yrds.
Place the unit behind a plate. It works. The downside is that for ammo with SD’s of 4-6 and ES’s of 25-35, by the time we get downrange, we can’t really know what was the actual velocity decay to make use of the data."

A buddy of mine just picked one up and I really like it. It’s smaller than I thought it would be. The Garmin is easy to set up and even easier to use. Now I’m hoping he can come to the range with me so I can get velocities on everything. I’ll probably buy one for myself later this year.

We have hundreds of happy customer's who have purchased this unit, It's no surprise that it's still very popular with how well this unit performs consistently and reliably![]()

That's something right there even if it doesn't provide anything other than some basic info.
Other chrono units I've messed with over the years (PACT, Shooting Chrony, CED, Caldwell and probably a few more) have all been touchy and prone to error for one reason or another.
So then the big question would be do consistent results justify the 2x cost over more traditional stuff?
