From everything that I’ve read, Cylinder and Slide makes hardened extractor for the SA-35. At $35 each, I’d take a shot.

BHP Spring Solutions also has all sorts of goodies for the SA-35.

I mean, a surplus "real" Hi Power is probably gonna be less/similar to an SA35:

And cooler, in my opinion. And maybe more likely to work.

Also, the "High Power" that FN now sells is supposed to be a solid pistol, from what I've heard. But, it's not really a clone/replica/knockoff of the Hi Power--it's an altogether different gun. Not sure how much/if it preserves any of the authentic Hi Power feel. But people who've shot it seem to like it.

LGS has a non-rail compact that reminds me of the FM Detective. I guess it’s the PI? At less than $475 OTD I’m tempted…

Part of the appeal of the SA is that there's nothing I'd change on it except the front sight. I'm a notorious tinkerer and I seldom find a gun I wouldn't change every thing on.

The new colt limited edition 1911 and the Springfield Pro are the only other guns I could see me buying and not tinkering with.

Apex has some new HP stuff:

An extractor which might be good insurance https://www.apextactical.com/extract...wning-hi-power

And a new trigger/hammer/sear kit that may be less essential https://www.apextactical.com/action-...wning-hi-power

This all reminds me that I really need to spend more time with my SA-35. I bought the gun with the intention of shooting it quite a bit to see how durable/reliable it wanted to be and then sending it to Karl Sokol. But with his passing I have lost interest in the project.

I'm also kind of holding out hope that some of the Girsan models will spawn some copycat innovation at Springfield Armory. I'd like to see what's essentially a base model SA-35 with an aluminum frame. I'd also like to see a version of the Girsan Match Ops or whatever the railed/beavertail/optic pistol is called.

Wonder if they preemptively installed their extractor. One close friend bought one and has been experiencing the failures to extract that are apparently problematic. My friend tried two extractors and no joy. I pointed him at the Apex, but am not sure if he has snagged one yet.
