I watched the video as well and thought that was peculiar. But, I'm sure Travis Haley has a reason for having an air tag on the mag well of his rifle.
Probably better suited for Joe Biden’s shotgun.
My guess is he travels with that rifle and has to check it for flights. The Air Tag allows him to track the rifle and be alerted should it be misplaced and/or stolen.

Pretty solid idea if you’re traveling with a long arm. TSA, hotels, vehicles, etc, etc.
I’ve got a few air tags and they’re handy little things.
Love mine on my keys etc.

Not questioning the use as I have some too, it’s the “look but don’t steal” placement. BCM grips have locking covers that would hold an air tag.
How do you know there isn't one in the grip?
