Week 51: Seeklander Reload Drill and variation

Please read the rules before participating in this thread.

Week 51: Seeklander Reload Drill and variation
results may be posted until 11:59pm EDT on Monday 05-November-2012.

    Range: 10 yds
Target: IPSC target A-zone and 3x5 card
    Start position: concealed
    Rounds fired: 2 + 2 + 2 = 6 shots, repeated once for a total of 12 shots

Here is a video with OrigamiAK demonstrating the Reload Drill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=HH7DsBbiqN0.

Shooters start facing an IPSC target from 10 yds away. On the buzzer, draw from concealment and fire 2 rounds, reload, fire 2 additional shots, reload again, transfer pistol to the weak hand, and fire a final 2 shots. (yes, the way it is written could allow someone to game this and not do a slide lock reload, but then again they are also likely the kind of person who cheats on their taxes as well...)

Repeat the drill using a 3x5 card as your target.

Please report the following when responding to this thread:
    • Start position (pistol, holster type, concealment)
    • Report the time to complete and number of hits to the A-zone and 3x5 card

Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.

Note, if you need an IPSC A-zone, feel free to download this one and print on legal paper: http://pistol-forum.com/attachment.p...8&d=1347302460

With my timer recording an average of 2.5 shots per actual one shot fired, doing the timed drills continues to be frustrating.
A-zone: one run clean, one down one shot, approximately 10-12 seconds per run.
3x5: one run minus two, one run minus one, approximately 13-15 seconds per run.

P30 under long-sleeved polo shirt, Shaggy and BCC mag pouches.

    PS: Reloads from the slide-lock.

    Just one attempt this week.

    Lower A-zone: 5.94, 6 As.
3x5 card: 8.30, 5 hits, one yanked badly into the C-zone.

    Excellent shooting, as usual, Origami.

There is something I found after examining OrigamiAK's photo; I am not sure if this has been noted or checked out before. I used a provided link to a .pdf file to print out an A-zone. It visually looked smaller to me than the actual A-zone on Origami's photo, so I measured the printed target, and it came out to 11.5cm x 21 cm, vs 15cm x28 cm official size of IPSC metric target A-zone.

Is there anything that needs to be done to in printer settings, or am I missing something?

YVK--the ones I just printed out on legal paper were the exact same size as the IPSC target I put them on top of...

My perception of what's legal and what's not has been shattered....

    Thanks.

I used my brand new Comp-Tac Infidel IWB holster with a 5.11 vest.

    Run 1: Gen 3 G-17 A-zone:10.55 6As 3x5: 13.94 2 hits 4 misses

    Run 2: Gen 3 G-17 A-zone:10.04 6As 3x5: 15.38 3 hits 3 misses

    Run 3: Gen 3 G-26 A-zone:12.41 5As 1 miss (all 6 were in the down zero of an IDPA target) 3x5: 15.02 5 hits 1 miss

It finally quit raining long enough for me to run this.

Gen 4 Glock 17 shaggy, BMC, front pocket

A zone (used 6" circle on ptc target) all hits 16.03
    3x5 all hits 19.47

Shooting area recently reopened so I'm able to do dtow again. I failed to look up this weeks drill prior to driving out as I wasn't sure if I could shoot. Only had carry gear with one BMC so used front pocket for second magazine and forgot what a zone size was so used 6" circle on ptc target. Only shot it once was concentrating on getting hits vs speed with new sights.
