Work remotely. It's too dangerous to go to work!

Federal workers in San Francisco told to work remotely ‘for the foreseeable future’ because local crime is so bad

Isn't this a Diversity problem? Aren't criminals entitled to a diverse population of victims to include federal workers?

I’d like to see the voting records of those “Federal workers”…
Nevermind, I already know how they vote.

The employees getting or being allowed to use a carry permit and carry at work - but Nooo.
Strive to carry the handgun you would want anywhere, everywhere; forget that good area bullcrap.

I hate to say “fortunate” but this is a great example why federal employees are citing crime, travel cost, and travel risk to push back against the recent “return to office” push.

Im guessing they find it more comfortable to not work at home than to not work in their office.

The main federal building in SF, the Phillip J. Burton federal building is in an area called the Tenderloin. It was a dangerous shit hole 20 years ago when there was still some rule of law in SF so it’s essentially mad max now. I’m not at all surprised at this.

Parking at federal facilities in San Francisco is extremely limited, which means most federal employees have nowhere to park at work and have to take public transit / walk to and from work. Taking public transit in San Francisco was a graduate level exercise in MUC 20 years ago and has gotten exponentially worse.

Many of the issues have nothing to do with “having a carry permit.” if your spouse or adult child was one of those workers you wouldn’t want them running a gauntlet of drunk / high / mentally ill assholes with no consequences either.

A common complaint against taking assignments in DC by members of the US foreign service is not just the usual complaint shared my most federal employees (cost of living), but also the fact that crime is worse than many of the places overseas that rate differential pay for crime but you don't get a crime differential pay for living/working in DC, which can have higher crime.

Even for LEOs assigned take home GOV parking was limited. We had more GOV than Parking spaces. You could only drive to work if you were in certain assignments. So we had officers taking public transportation too. Had three incidents on BART where we either assisted BART police or detained suspects for BART police. Two robberies and one dude publicly masturbating on the train.

Even back, then, San Francisco was so degenerate and expensive that many of the robbers and drug dealers were commuter criminals who took public transportation into the city from surrounding areas.

Most federal employees can’t afford to live in SF.
