I don't even want to dabble in higher pressure loads. If I'm getting 950fps with a 270gr swc over 10gr true blue would a good place to start be 9gr due to the slightly shorter brass.

270@950 would probably shoot clean through an elk, so I’d call that pretty good.
I was into 10mm Auto before it sold out and went mainstream, but these days I'm here for the revolver and epidemiology information.

    8.2gr true blue under a 270gr swc 836fps

    8.5gr 851fps

    9gr 896fps

Groups at 25 yards went from 6-7" off hand to 4.5" when I got to the 9gr.

    I'll try 9.5gr next.

As long as accuracy stays there I think I'll stop there.

FWIW I've played with .45 Super and it's got a lot of power potential in it, I've ran bullets of a similar weight range (one a 275gr Hunters Supply hardcast and the other a 280gr WFNGC) using Power Pistol to around 1075 fps from a G21. I've also tried Longshot, the now defunct 800X and some Blue Dot too with bullets going as high as 300gr.

    Good job!!

Do you think the longer brass is sealing in the chamber better?

I only click on this thread because every time I see .45 Win Mag, I time warp to the Grizzly LAR and fondly remember the time I got to shoot a full mag through one in my early 20's...wanted one ever since. Anyway, @03RN, I'm totally digging where you've gone with this.

I do. I think the numbers accurately reflect the slightly shorter brass compared to 45 colt numbers

9.5gr was perfect. Right at 950 and accuracy was the best so far.

My DA shooting has suffered since I've been shooting mostly 1911s this year
