    New Production 66-8 Rust Issues

    Hey everyone,

I picked up this 2.75” 66 a few weeks ago. It carries well and shoots like a dream. I live in hot humid hell and have been sweating like a pig. I’ve had issues with small areas of rust showing up on it already. Back of the hammer, front sight ramp, and a small spot on the trigger guard.

I’ve been wiping it down daily and reapplying a light film of CLP. Anything else I should be doing? I haven’t had this issue with my Stainless or Blued Rugers.

Breakfree has let me down on rust prevention multiple times if that is the CLP you are using.

I have had better luck with this EEZOX stuff in the tropical environment of central AL.

You might want to try this - probably have to reapply but frequency not known

Exactly what I’m using. I’m in South Florida, I feel your pain!
    Just ordered Eezox.

I actually have a little pitting under the grips by the cylinder release.

I scotchbrited the entire gun an the slicker surface helps.

I wondered if the slightly textured surface was to blame.

I’ve had good luck with this on a lot of blued guns carried in adverse conditions.

I've used the same product for 1/2 a dozen years or so, it's worked well for me as well.
