    JCN Dremels an EDC X9

So I have a pair of EDC X9. One optic cut and one with irons.

They were my main guns I shot before the Shadow 2 and USPSA in 2019.

But the difference in grip angle is enough that I never shoot them anymore.

They’re great guns and I think IDPA ESP, CCP (with basepad shave) and CO would work.

But with that light a gun… I’d want a compensator.

And want to change the grip angle…

You see where this is going…

    Today:

    Took this:

    And cut it down

I cheated on Dremel with Makita…

Took literally 15 seconds to cut it.

Used a tap but there was a shelf that I had to grind out with the Dremel stone.

    Bingo. Fully tapped.

Needed a ratcheting socket instead of the flimsy T-handle.

Timed the base for a 12:30 clock.

Will Rocksett it… the beauty of 2011 barrels being inserted through the front!

Won’t have to remove the compensator for cleaning.

The comp is slim and fits in open ended holsters.

It also fits in the box!

    12:30 timed comp

The next step will be the backstrap to make it more CZ angle.

This is the L backstrap and what I plan on grinding off…

I just want to say that you're my favorite mad scientist on the internet.

Very much looking forward to how this plays out!

Ditto. Any chance we'll see a before and after accuracy test?

I think it's time to notify the Catholic Church.

    That's kinda neat.

I took an @AsianJedi/Presscheck joint class last fall and there was a guy there with a Battlecomp on a Glock. I think the center required some milling to work with 9mm but I haven't handled a Battlecomp in years. I did not get a chance to shoot it.

Nice. I’m a fan of making sure a firearm fits the shooter. Started with shotguns, then pistols, and now I see that it applies to carbines and bolt-guns as well. Plastic framed cheap pistols take less bravery than expensive or metal framed. Please keep us updated. The pictures are great.

    Decided to clock 12

After thinking about it, my pistol freestyle returns the gun vertically so I Rocksett the comp timed to 12 o’clock.

Rifle compensators (for right handed shooters) are generally clocked to 12:30-1:30 because your leading hand tends to be unsupported to the right (like if you shot pistol SHO).

So I’ll let it cure before shooting.

In the meantime dug up some potential add on backstrap candidates because it’s an option to build up the rear rather than putting the L strap and shaving it down.
