So, humans are basically super tough protein gels and they are pretty good at stopping (some) supersonic projectiles.

I'm just saying...have we given up on the old meat shield as a solution?

Interesting that it's a protein. Hopefully it is designed in such a way that it will not denature under elevated temperatures.

That is my only somewhat scientific contribution Now excuse me but...

Since it seems like its based on a structural protein, I think odds of avoiding heat denaturation are pretty decent, but scrambled egg armor does sound a lot less impressive, I'll admit.
