That looks like a nickel finish to my untrained eye .

Looks like high-polish nickel, which was a factory finish offering. The yellow hue is a clue about the finish being nickel. But that revolver has been polished and finished outside the factory. The hammer, trigger, and rear sight are not like a S&W 19 with nickel finish left the factory. Below is an image with a factory nickel finish. Please note the hammer, trigger, and rear sight. The aftermarket polishing is also evident, especially on the pin used to "secure the barrel".

And, no, there are no Model 19 revolvers that are stainless. The stainless version is the 66, which was built on the F-frame (stainless version of the K-frame).

    That’s what I thought. I didn’t see the N stamp anywhere. Thanks!

Aftermarket nickel, but looks well done. A nice piece if the price is right.

Funny this came up, I used to own a similar model 19 (and very foolishly sold it). It was the revolver I took to MAG40, and I wish I had it back.

farscott already covered it. The only other part I can think to check is the ejector star. It's been a while but I think S&W typically used blue ejectors on the nickel guns. The auction pictures clearly show the nickel on the ejector. It looks like an older aftermarket plating job, with a set of much newer stocks.

Also, somebody please tell me I'm not the only one who went "that would be a Model 66" when reading the thread title.

IDK why the always do the hammer, trigger and extractor along with everything else. It would look a lot better with the contrasting case colors.

At least it makes a refinish easy to spot.
