Week 50: Variations on the Test

Please read the rules before participating in this thread.

Week 50: Variations on the Test
results may be posted until 11:59pm EDT on Monday 29-October-2012.

    Range: 5, 10, 20 yards
Target: NRA B8 repair target (link to NRA B8 repair target: http://pistol-forum.com/attachment.p...7&d=1306683559)
Start position: low ready or concealed for the folks who want a greater challenge
    Rounds fired: 30 shots

Note, if you go over time or if any shots are outside the black, it is a failure.

    1. Start with the classic "test" from 10 yards: On the buzzer fire 10 shots into an NRA B8 target within 10 seconds.

    2. Move to the 5 yd line for the "half-test": On the buzzer fire 10 shots into an NRA B8 target within 5 seconds.

    3. Move to the 20 yd line for the "double-test": On the buzzer fire 10 shots into an NRA B8 target within 20 seconds.

Please report the following when responding to this thread:
    • Start position (pistol, holster type, concealment)
    • For each segment, report the time to complete, number of hits in the black/any misses, and actual score.

    Gen 3 G-17, Comp-Tac holster, 5.11 vest.

    1. 9.72 sec, 9 hits in black with 1 in the 8 ring, 94-1x.

    2. 4.35 sec, all in black, 98-5x.

    3. 11.80 sec, 9 in black, 1 miss, 78-1x.

    I reshot this with a Gen 4 G-17, a G-19 and a G-26. Interesting that my best scores were with the G-26.

    Gen 3 G-26, Comp-Tac, 5.11 vest.

    1. 8.61 sec, 8 in black, 92.

    2. 4.15 sec, all in black, 100-4x.

    3. 16.30, all in black, 92-2x.

I have never shot the Test before. My first score posted was the first time shooting it. I ran the timer first to get an idea how much time I had. I'll be using this more.

OrigamiAK - it's hard to use all 10 seconds ain't it?

Indeed. It's always hard for me to use all the time in any shooting. Got pretty close on the 5 yard Half Test though.

    Gun: M&P 9 FS
Gear: Ludus Magnus MMA carried AIWB under Pullover

Test: 7.06s; All in; 98 Points

    1/2 Test: 3.47; All in; 94 Points

Double Test: 13.68; FAIL; 76 Points

Rushed the double Test and clearly didn't apply the fundamentals properly.

G19 AIWB under untucked button-down shirt

Test: 90-2x in 10.20s, all in black
Double: 80-0x in 14.23, 2 out of black
Half: 89-1x in 8.87, 1 out of black

ETA: Just realized I was using a B16, whereas the drill calls for a B8. I always thought the standard Test was on a B16?

P30 LEM. For the most part, can't report times, only pass/fail on par.

    Low ready:
Test - fail x 4 in all kinds of ways, slow, in white, slow and in white, pass on #5 with score of 96.
    Half test: pass, 96.
Double test: fail x 2, both times 9 hits on the paper, beat the timer ( sarcasm), did not score.

    Concealed, Shaggy:
    Test: fail x 2, 92 (3 in white), 95(2 in white), pass 9.27 97.
Half test: fail 94, 2 in white, pass 4.98, 100.
Double test: didn't run from concealment.

Ran it again today, on the correct target (well, I used an actual B8.) G17Gen4 from experimental aiwb holster, under an untucked polo.

    Test: 8.99, -2, 93-3x
    Double: 17.96, -4, 87-0x
    Half: 6.48, -0, 99-5x
