    My 2016 627-5 S&W Pro model

    This is a 8-round revolver with a cylinder machined for moon-clips; 4" flat-sided barrel.

I've got ~5600 rounds through it, but admittedly, I don't get around to shooting it much. I probably shoot my regular carry guns much more. Too many guns; too little ammo on hand; too little time; and more guns added to my inventory each year. I've since replaced the lock with one of those plug-kits, but the lock never gave me a problem before that change.

S&W Registered Magnum Number 379 is a first year gun shipped with a 6.5” barrel and a Patridge front sight in August of 1935. In 1940 Mr. C.E. Lambert, the second owner of this revolver sent it back to S&W to have a 3.5” barrel with a King base and Baughman ramp installed.

The owner prior to the one I acquired this revolver from had this gun refinished by Ford’s since the revolver had been refinished prior to him acquiring it, so no decline in value.

I have the original stocks that number to the gun but in these pics it’s wearing custom pre war stocks with large medallions made from English walnut by my favorite stock maker Curtis Harlow.

My first Registered Magnum and I’m very happy with this acquisition especially considering that I got it WELL within my budget.

    Congrats on another stellar acquisition.

While the gun itself cannot talk, having the history of the prior owners and modifications is the next best thing, and a real plus IMNSHO.

I'm hoping you plan to shoot it and provide a range report.

And a fine acquisition it is! Mr Lambert was obviously a man of taste and distinction.

.38/44 Heavy Duty shipped to the State Tax Commission, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1935. First shots yesterday and she's grouping decent but about 2" high at 10 yards with 158 grain standard pressure ammo. Really need to feed her something oomphier I think. Recoil with the standard pressure is verging on giggle level negligible.

Unknown vintage custom by an unknown 'smith.

US Army 1917 frame, Model of 1950 barrel and ejector rod, after market Micro Sight Company adjustable rear with undercut Patridge front, repro commercial style standard grips (the grips I added. The pretty target grips it came with create ejection issues...)

Bought cheap at a gun show years ago. It's been a problem child since the first range trip. Unable to go a cylinder without issue it migrated to the back of the gun safe. After a recent trip to Nelson Ford it looks to be sorted! Clips waiting to be emptied from yesterday's range session...

@Half Moon man you have some NICE pre war N frames! I’d love to find a cherry condition 4” pre war HD but they are fairly rare.

Got lucky on the HD. Stumbled on it looking for something else. It was listed at a fairly high starting bid forever. Kept looking at it through a few re-lists. Then they dropped the price to a low-ish starting bid probably trying to drum up interest. Threw in a bid expecting to lose but ended up the only bidder. Pretty sure it's a re-blue but if so it's nicely done. Ignoring drop safety always liked the pre-war long action...
