Yeah, 10 of the top 15 is basically the entire Deep South plus Texas and Arizona. Anyone thinking they've got a good bead on homelessness being a problem in Those Places just means they don't bother looking past the treeline. It's absolutely in their backyard as well.

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, was carjacked Monday night by three armed attackers, his office said.

Cuellar’s chief of staff Jacob Hochberg released a statement saying: “As Congressman Cuellar was parking his car this evening, 3 armed assailants approached the Congressman and stole his vehicle. Luckily, he was not harmed and is working with local law enforcement.”

The Navy Yard area has been surprisingly seedy for a long time. When we were in college, one of my best friends was interning for NCIS and got stabbed walking home from work one day. Threw his hands up into the "surrender" position when someone tried to mug him, which the mugger took as a sign of resistance and stabbed him in the hand before running away.

This was close to 20 years ago.

What makes a shit hole city? Maybe it's citizens. Choose one and write a census data type profile. Include descriptors like literacy rates, percent at or below poverty level, criminal history data, drug and alcohol addiction statistics, teen pregnancy data, and unemployment figures. Then look at the school district's achievement data.

...Sources tell The Post the homeless have been pushed to other parts of the city in preparation for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which starts tomorrow and runs through Nov. 17.

However, residents and business owners said city officials’ attempts to “herd” transients and drug addicts is only a “Band-Aid” to a severe problem as drug overdoses continue to plague the city.

The city focused on seven intersections in the Tenderloin and South of Market, or SoMa, neighborhoods which is home to some of the more concentrated encampments where drug-addled people high on fentanyl and heroin can be seen passed out on the streets every day.

“They started clearing the tents earlier this week and there is definitely a lot more police presence,” SoMa resident and community activist Ricci Lee Wynne told The Post.

“They’ve cleared out the tents that were near the Moscone Center on Howard Street, which tells me the city had the capability to do this all along — instead they just do the bare minimum.

“Once APEC is gone, police presence will start to simmer down again, the tents will return. And it will slowly flare up again. What we need is a permanent solution.”

Among the APEC attendees will be President Joe Biden, who will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which was announced on Friday. The event is expected to draw over 20,000 visitors to the City by The Bay.

The 15 second clip of Gov. Newson saying he cleaned up the city for leaders was incredibly smug. "It's true because it's true"

Some of Portland's shitholery has migrated to Bend.

DCSO SWAT, K-9s arrest China Hat transient accused of aiming gun at family on tour, firing shot near girl’s head

"34-year-old transient confronted a tour group riding all-terrain vehicles in the area of his camp. The man allegedly pointed a gun at members of the tour group and discharged the gun in close proximity to a juvenile female..."

    This is the best part:
“As a result, K-9s Ronin and Delta were deployed and successfully captured the suspect. Bend Fire paramedics took the man to St. Charles Bend for evaluation of possible injuries from the K-9 capture.”
