I find it slightly ironic that I am ensconced in the walled compound of my hotel in Oakland, CA. Did everything I could to go directly to hotel and plan boarding the airport shuttle super early and getting out of dodge.

I made it out of Oakland. The hotel had an obvious but tasteful fence around the entire property with a security checkpoint. There were QR codes to scan about "visiting safely" in multiple locations. See https://www.visitoakland.com/travel-safely-in-oakland/
Traveling with guns out of Oakland was easier than getting out of Memphis.
