A friend of mine's grandma lost a good amount, high 5 figures, to scammers. They called from "the IRS" about her tax bill. Her husband had recently died and she asked if it was about his estate. Uhhhh....why yes, yes it is.

My neighbor who passed about 5 years ago lived alone in his 80's. He was always asking me why the IRS kept calling him about his unpaid taxes. I told him many times that nobody from the fed would call him. It was a scam. I'm not sure he believed me. He lived on social security and even his brother talked him into some questionable deals. They put about 25K into a boat they built for offshore fishing. When it was finished his brother talked him into buying out his half interest, which he did. He used the boat once before he died.

Scammers need to be executed.
