    Another vote for the MCH. I have the smaller version and its perfect. They make dual fuel models now in case you can't get to a charger. They have amazing output, especially for the price.

    Are these lights used regularly? Or are they stashed into places in case of power outages or such, and only used rarely?

    Rechargeable cells can be nice for regular use, as long as the light isn't exposed to very cold environments. For dealing with the cold (the car light, possibly, depending on where you live) or for a light that gets stowed away for possibly a long time and is still expected to workout, 123's might be better.
