    Defense only.

I'm fat guy, and I carry the TDI instead of a Clinch Pick or other reverse-edge blade because I firmly believe that eviscerating myself on the draw is not going to help me win a fight.
The TDI started working loose from the sheath, at one point fell on tile and chipped the point. I found what I felt to be the closest thing to a forward-edge CP. Working out so far. Not the coolest steel, by far, but it was dirt cheap.

Chuck, if you find you want to move up a little in price bracket, the ESEE Izula series works well. The factory plastic sheath isn't too bad, can easily take a soft loop or DCC clip, and Dark Star Gear has a sheath designed for CP style carry for it.

Judicious scale selection and sheath tweaks make the Izula pretty good at a lot of things.

The two side by side. There are a lot of aftermarket handles for these in varying thickness/material/color. These are the OEM black G-10. Also, I stripped the coating from the steel and rubbed it down with a 3M sponge.

The DSG sheath for the ESEE (soft loop not on it currently)
I appreciate the suggestions, and especially the photos. This cheap thing is working out so far, but if I upgrade, the Izula with some G10 scales looks really good. The factory sheath leaves me a little cold, but that DSG one is right up my alley.

    Thanks again.

For guys who liked the idea of the Sayoc/Headhunter Rat knife, but didn't end up with one or weren't happy with it, there are a couple good blades to look at, somewhat similar.

    Benchmade Dacian, out now:
