It seems like in the last 5 years or maybe longer that virtually every company has begun offering all their hats as mesh backed trucker style. I hate them. They don't fit my head well and I find most of them to be scratchy and uncomfortable; especially on my ears. I do have one that is soft mesh and that one is ok.
I think part of it is also the flatter bill trend. That's not my style. I still roll my hat bills. My favorite hat, though long since retired is an Arcteryx B.A.C. (Baller Ass Cap) that I picked up at the old Grey Group store in Fayetteville, NC before a Vickers carbine class back in 2011.
I try to stay pretty neutral with clothing and hats in terms of gun stuff. Pretty much the only gun stuff I'll wear is something you'd have to be pretty into it to know (A Mantis X shirt, for instance). So I don't really want a Glock hat or any other super known thing. I don't follow any sports or that would be a pretty easy one. In fact, I do have a Georgia Tech hat, because that's where I went to school, but it never fails to draw some comment (mostly derogatory) that I don't understand because it's related to their sports.
Low Profile Cotton hats with buckle strap backs seem to work the best. I had a couple Orvis ones I loved and wore to death. I don't mind it being something outdoors because that's something I actually do and can speak to. Even optics companies would be ok since they tend to be more obscure.
Anyway, who's got the hat magic?
